The lines were long in front of the small table in the
elementary school cafeteria today. The Lunch Ladies were serving
up healthy portions of melons, cheese peppers, Brussels sprouts,
spaghetti squash and purple cauliflower. The children were able
to take some of the samplings and give something new a try.
Today, food service directors Amy Shaw-Stuart from Cobleskill-Richmondville
and Marcy Vanmaucher from Schalmont were serving up the goodies.
Middleburgh Food Service Director Barbara Cootware, who will
head to school districts in Schoharie and Gilboa in the coming
weeks, asked each student to complete a survey that asked four
questions:
Did you try a new fruit or vegetable today?
What was it?
Did you like it?
Will you ask to have it at home?
Today's produce was from Barbers, Bohringers and Shauls farms in
Middleburgh.
